+ much grittier tone than expected
+ futuristic landscape – lots of reds and blacks
– not keen on Will Freidle as Batman
+ Throwbacks to Batman: TAS
+ nice to hear Kevin Conroy back as an older Bruce Wayne
+ Joker – well acted, simply terrifying
+ Barbara Gordon becomes commissioner – very interesting
+ Mark Hamill is outstanding
+ fights are well choreographed and action is brutal
– not attached to Terry’s character and story
+ interesting design for sets
+ 2D animation holds up
+ plot is quite twisted at times
+ subtle foreshadowing
+ nice to see Batman, Robin and Batgirl fighting together in flashbacks
+ Tim Drake twist
+ stakes surprisingly high for an animated film
+ nice to see Joker as a physical adversary for once
– reference to ‘real Batman’
+ very dark
