+ much grittier tone than expected

+ futuristic landscape – lots of reds and blacks

+ Throwbacks to Batman: TAS

+ nice to hear Kevin Conroy back as an older Bruce Wayne

+ Joker – well acted, simply terrifying

+ Barbara Gordon becomes commissioner – very interesting

+ Mark Hamill is outstanding

+ fights are well choreographed and action is brutal

– not attached to Terry’s character and story

+ interesting design for sets

+ 2D animation holds up

+ plot is quite twisted at times

+ subtle foreshadowing

+ nice to see Batman, Robin and Batgirl fighting together in flashbacks

+ Tim Drake twist

+ stakes surprisingly high for an animated film

+ nice to see Joker as a physical adversary for once

– reference to ‘real Batman’

+ very dark
