As you may remember, last month Prometheus director Ridley Scott told the press that the sequel to the 2012 sci-fi horror was to be called Alien: Paradise Lost, a continuation of the Alien films that he also pioneered back in 1979. However, on Friday (13th November) while promoting his latest film The Martian (reviewed here) at the AFI Film Festival, he announced the new title: Alien: Covenant.
How this will impact the film it is currently unclear, but we do know that the film will delve further into how the xenomorphs themselves were created, and who by. It’s also confirmed that Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5 featuring Sigourney Weaver has been put on hold while Scott figures out Covenant.
