Saipan Movie Release Date Countdown

The Saipan movie release date is set for some point in summer 2025. At the time of writing, though, there isn’t a confirmed release date to mark on your calendar.

That said, the Saipan movie release date is definitely closing in. On June 24, 2025, a new trailer released from Vertigo Releasing. Crucially, though, it kept the release plans vague, simply stating “coming soon.”

When the Saipan movie was reported on by Variety in summer 2024, it was slated for a tentative summer 2025 release date. The closer we get to that window, though, the less likely this seems. Instead, it’s more likely that the Saipan movie release date will be a little later in the year – perhaps towards August and September to correlate with the new football season starting.

Directed by Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa, Saipan follows the dramatic events that took place just before the Republic of Ireland competed in the 2002 World Cup in Japan. After a heated confrontation, star player and captain Roy Keane (played here by Éanna Hardwicke) stormed out of the camp, leaving manager Mick McCarthy (Steve Coogan) at a loss.

High-quality football films are a dime a dozen, but if the recent success of sports film Heavyweight proves anything, it’s that there’s still plenty of room for nuanced and exciting dramatisations of sporting events.
