Ready for Manny, Sid, and co. to return? If so, the sought-after Ice Age 6 release date is bound to be on your mind. The long-running Fox franchise is now under Disney’s control, meaning you can expect plenty more animated adventures to arrive soon. Let’s take a look at when the next mainline entry in the series is due to release.
Ice Age 6 Release Date Countdown
Ice Age 6 is expected to have a 2026 release date, though we don’t know exactly which month that’ll be yet.
It’ll come exactly ten years after the release of Ice Age: Collision Course, the most recent numbered movie in the franchise from 2016. Since that came out, 20th Century Fox was bought by Disney, meaning any movies in production were then up in the air.
In the years since the merger, Disney released a direct-to-streaming spin-off called The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, starring Simon Pegg as he reprises his role from 2009’s Dawn of the Dinosaurs and beyond. Following the movie’s lukewarm reception, the franchise easily could’ve remained a reliable source of straight-to-streaming releases, but that plan seems to have changed.
In a surprising bit of news, Ice Age 6 was announced at the D23 Brazil convention in November 2024. The announcement post on X features the main cast of Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo chatting between one another to confirm the news. The tweet also locks Simon Pegg and Denis Leary for the film, also revealing that it’ll eschew a streaming release and land in cinemas first.
So far, plot details for Ice Age 6 remain thin on the ground. At the end of Collision Course, the main group of Manny, Sid, Diego, and Ellie were living happily ever after, with Scrat blasting off to Mars. They all feature in The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, but only in the background as the opossums go on a cross-country adventure. As such, we expect Ice Age 6 to pick back up with the main cast and a brand new adventure.
