Want to know more about The Fantastic Four: First Steps post credits scene? The latest entry in the MCU after Thunderbolts* is nearly here, and it’s set to massively shake up the existing continuity. We already know that Matt Shakman’s reboot of Marvel’s First Family takes place outside of the main universe, but it’ll no doubt tie up nicely to set up Avengers: Doomsday. Let’s get into everything we know about the movie’s post credits scene!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps Post Credits Scene, Explained
At the time of writing, we don’t know what the post credits scene will be in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, it’s practically guaranteed that there will be a teaser of some sort for Avengers: Doomsday.
The predominant fan theory prior to the movie’s release is that a post credits sting is where we’ll get our first proper look at Doctor Doom, as played by Robert Downey Jr. This was reported by renowned leaker Jeff Sneider as early as July 2024, when Downey’s return to the MCU after leaving following Avengers: Endgame was announced.
That said, in June 2025 Shakman confirmed that Downey’s Doom won’t feature in The Fantastic Four: First Steps in any capacity – including in a post credits scene. “Doom is not a part of my film, and therefore not a part of my purview,” he told Empire Magazine.

Of course, you may want to take that with a heavy pinch of salt. After all, we know from the post creidts scene in Thunderbolts* that the Fantastic Four end up in the MCU’s main continuity at the very end, seemingly forced out of their dimension. While that could’ve been Galactus’ doing, it’s far more likely that Doom has started to mess with the multiverse at this point. In that respect, it would be similar to Thor: Ragnarok‘s post credits scene, which teased Thanos attacking the Asgardian refugees.
Also, we know that more often than not, post credits scenes aren’t directed by the same people that make a Marvel movie. In the case of Thunderbolts*, it was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo as opposed to Jake Schrier. So, while Shakman says that Doom isn’t part of his film, that doesn’t mean he won’t be part of the film.
Of course, we’ll update this article as soon as we have more specifics about The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ post credits scene. Just don’t be surprised of old Tony Stark shows up with an evil look in his eyes.
