How to Watch The Ugly Stepsister Movie Online

At the time of writing, The Ugly Stepsister is not available to watch online. In fact, it doesn’t even have a confirmed release date yet.

This is bound to come as bad news for horror fans excited to check out this wacky spin on the Cinderella fable. That said, The Ugly Stepsister has only just hit the festival circuit, screening at Sundance Film Festival in January 2025. It’s likely to remain exclusive to festivals for the majority of 2025, making an October 2025 release date for The Ugly Stepsister the most likely scenario.

Of course, we’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we learn more on where to watch The Ugly Stepsister. Until then, it’s a similar instance to recent indie horrors like Dream Eater, which is also lingering on the festival scene for a while prior to a wide release.

However, one thing to note is that The Ugly Stepsister has already been picked up for distribution by Shudder. This means it’ll appear both on its streaming service and likely in a physical release down the line, too. In fact, some recent Shudder films like Late Night With the Devil also received a limited run in cinemas, so you may get the chance to see The Ugly Stepsister on the big screen.

Directed by Emilie Blichfeldt, the main character of The Ugly Stepsister is called Elvira, played by Lea Myren. She’s fighting for the attention of her region’s prince, but her smug yet beautiful stepsister Agnes stands in her way. As you may expect, she goes to some pretty horrific lengths to get herself ahead.

Until it becomes more widely available, however, we’ll have to wait and see how The Ugly Stepsister will pan out. Fortunately, with Shudder guaranteed to distribute it widely, we’ll find out more sooner rather than later.
