Uglies 2 Release Date Countdown

At the time of writing, Uglies 2 does not have a release date, and has not been greenlit by Netflix. If it does happen, don’t expect it to release any time before 2026.

As it stands, we don’t even know if Uglies 2 will ever release, let alone when it could hypothetically arrive. The first movie released on September 13, 2024, meaning it’s a little too soon to know whether a sequel is on the cards or not. Netflix tends to hide its viewership data, but rest assured that if enough subscribers tune in, a sequel will enter production.

That said, the middling reception to the Uglies movie means a sequel is far from assured. At the time of writing the movie sits on a measly 21% on Rotten Tomatoes, though its 61% audience score means it is resonating with viewers a bit more than critics. As long as enough of the viewership watches and enjoys the movie, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Uglies 2 release.

After all, the movie already has a sequel perfectly poised. In fact, the novel upon which Uglies is based has a follow-up of its own, called Beauties, which released in 2005. There are a total of five books within the franchise now, all written by Scott Westerfeld, meaning there’s plenty of material for future movies to cover. Then again, this is Netflix—it could well turn into a series, if that makes more sense than more movies.

Regardless, it’ll be at least two years until we see Uglies 2, provided it does get greenlit. As soon as we hear more, we’ll update this article to ensure you’re always in the loop.
