The movie landed on PVOD platforms on August 13, 2024 – seven weeks after it initially released in theaters. Taking place without much connection to the 1996 original, Twisters follows Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Kate and her friend Javi, played by Anthony Ramos. During a late-career decision to continue researching the texture of volatile storms they come across Glenn Powell’s Tyler Owens, a social media celebrity who sees tornadoes as something to be tamed instead of studied. Many see it as a further part of Powell’s meteoric rise to fame over the past 12 months, bolstered by other hits like Nothing But You and Hit Man.
To watch the film for free on a streaming service, you’ll likely need to wait a little while longer. Distributed by Universal Pictures in the United States and Warner Bros. elsewhere globally, you can expect Twisters to eventually appear on Peacock or Sky Cinema, depending on your region. Until then, you can either rent or purchase it from Prime Video.
