Looking for the Home 2 movie release date? The original Home film from 2015 was a hit with audiences, grossing over $380 million worldwide – no easy feat for an original IP. As such, fans have been waiting patiently for Dreamworks to greenlight and eventually produce a sequel. Let’s take a look at everything we know about Home 2 so far.

Home 2 does not have a release date because the movie has not been announced by Dreamworks, and is likely not in production.

This will no doubt come as bad news to those who loved the 2015 original and want to see the further adventures of Tip and Oh. While its $386 million worldwide gross isn’t bad by any means, it’s outshone by Dreamworks’ bigger franchises. In fact, it sits as the studio’s nineteenth highest-grossing film, sandwiched between the original Shrek and 2009’s Monsters vs. Aliens.

However, there was a TV series set after the events of the first Home movie that acts as something of a continuation. Called Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh, this 2D animation released on Netflix in 2016 and ran for four seasons. Unfortunately, it was deleted from the service in April 2024, meaning fans of the franchise aren’t able to catch any episodes they may have missed.

As such, it’s hard to imagine a Home 2 movie release date before 2027 at the very earliest. After all, there’s nothing to suggest Dreamworks is keen on continuing the series as it has franchises like Kung Fu Panda or Madagascar. Even if a sequel got greenlit today, it would still be many years off releasing.
