As it stands, it is very likely that Ghostbusters Frozen Empire will have a post credits scene.

The movie is still a few weeks away from release, so we may not know for sure until it drops on March 22, 2024. Of course, there’s also every chance that one of the cast or crew shares a hint regarding a post credits scene in interviews leading up to its launch. Until then, all we can do is speculate.

That said, the chances of a post credits scene in Ghostbusters Frozen Empire certainly look positive. After all, the existence of this film is actually borne out of the post credits sting in 2021’s Ghostbusters Afterlife. At the very end of the credits in that film, Ernie Hudson’s Winston drives the iconic Ecto-1 car back to New York. With Frozen Empire showing the Ghostbusters’ return to their city of origin, it’s clear that was a tie-in to this movie.

A post credits scene seems all but certain given a follow-up to Frozen Empire appears to already be in the works. When asked about the future in an exclusive interview with Total Film, director Gil Kenan said that “we know what the next stories are going to be.” Barring some dramatic under-performance, a Ghostbusters 6 is all but guaranteed.

As such, you can likely assume that Frozen Empire will contain a post credits scene teasing its all-but-inevitable follow-up. Whether that’s a hint of returning characters or the early origins of a villain, we’ll only know for sure when the movie comes out.
