A year after its debut at Cannes Film Festival, Quentin Dupieux’s subversive superhero comedy Smoking Causes Coughing finally has a UK release date. The film will release on July 7, 2023 via Picturehouse Entertainment, a few months after it landed in the US in late March.

Penned and directed by Dupieux, Smoking Causes Coughing follows a weathered troupe of Power Rangers-esque superheroes, the Tobacco Force, who are forced to confront their biggest threat yet: Lézardin, Emperor of Evil. Of course, things aren’t as serious as they may seem, with the film riffing on superhero conventions alongside wacky humour and brutal violence.

To complement the release date, Picturehouse Entertainment has today shared a new trailer and poster for the film’s UK release. Check out the new trailer here:

We’ve also got a suitably stylish new poster to feast upon, showing the Tobacco Force looking mightily stoic as their biggest battle yet lurks.

With just a few short weeks left until Smoking Causes Coughing releases, we can’t wait to see how the film turns out. In an era of all-consuming superhero cinema, this is set to do things very differently!

Smoking Causes Coughing releases in the UK on July 7, 2023 from Picturehouse Entertainment.
